I had come from a very poor background. I shared a bedroom with my two

I had come from a very poor background. I shared a bedroom with my two older sisters and my younger sister. Our house had only had two bedrooms, a bathroom, a lounge and a kitchen. It had been in the roughest area of the town. My friends and I used to hang around the sea front. I dreamed of going off overseas but my family couldn't ever afford to go abroad. Some years we afforded to go camping in the countryside. I tried hard at school and left with grades B, C and D. My parents had been so surprised and delighted with me.
Some of my friends had got pregnant and become single mums. Others of them dropped out of school and became unemployed. I wanted to keep my days dating free so I could get good qualifications and a decent job. I started working for the local newspaper because I had got a B in English. They let me have day release once a week so I could attend the local college.
My new friends were older and more sensible that the ones that lived in my locality. I liked Charlotte most of all and she got me to buy a lottery ticket every week. We hoped for that dream that one day we might win millions of pounds. I was so amazed that some of my numbers came up one week. I won sixty thousand pounds in the lottery! I spent some of it on a trip around the world which I told myself I would keep dating free. My boss let me have six weeks off work for my trip, one month paid and two weeks unpaid leave.
I took clothes that weren't too sexy looking to ensure my days would stay dating free. My holiday would be dating free however gorgeous a man I met I told myself firmly. I thought about going to university or renting a house now that I had so much money. My route was London to San Francisco to Hawaii to Auckland to Sydney to Singapore to Bangkok to London. I wanted to spend a week in each place.
When I was snorkeling in Thailand I had a worrying time with a shark. I had been so scared that he was going to eat me. I was crying by the time I got back to the shore. That is when I met Ashley. He was a guy from Yorkshire and he was so kind to me. He gave me a lovely hug when I most needed one. He asked if I wanted to go out to dinner that evening. I thought that would be a brief encounter with a man and not a relationship. He looked a bit like my idol Tom Cruise. I had no idea that on my last night of my trip he asked if I wanted him to become my husband.
